International Folklore Festival 'N'Karadak Krisin Tupanat' Kosovo

International

The festival
The International Folk Dance, Rites and Musical Festival "N'KARADK KRISIN TUPANAT" takes place every year in the beautiful cities of Viti and Gjilan, in the Republic of Kosovo.
The originator of this grand festival, which brought together devotees of art and traditional culture and folklore, was Mr. Arsim Abazi, who found the support of those who fervently love the sounds of musical instruments, dance, artistic vocals and cultural diversity. This festival also aims at promoting and preserving traditional values and heritage – not only in the country, but also abroad; as well as the cultural exchange between local and foreign artists.
The festival takes place every year and lasts for 7 days, between the dates of July 27 and August 2, and it features 8 to 12 local and international traditional dance troupes. It exhibits around 15 shows and special events occurring throughout the week. The festival attracts more than 10,000 people every year.
The festival is managed by an organizational council and the members are appointed by the festival director, who is supported by over 50 volunteers.

The aim of the festival
It aims at organizing the international festival of folklore for adults, minorities, local ethnic groups, with the participation of various local and international folk groups from around the world, and to convey the messages of peace, love, mutual understanding and coexistence between the peoples of the world, amongst the participants.

The area known as the Mountain range of Karadak is known to be indeed a treasure-trove of spiritual and folkloric heritage, with a special emphasis on men only traditional dances, which is deemed as a real treasure of its own merit.
