South European Sector
FRANCE

Founded in 1925, La Bourrée de Paris was born within the Auvergne colony in the capital. Under the leadership of the Oustry brothers, Louis Bonnet created the La Bourrée artistic society. Experiencing dazzling success across all the disciplines taught there, masters of arts and literature, as well as music, collaborated on the project. They became the guarantors of the collection, dissemination, and transmission of our popular arts and traditions. At its inception, Camille Gandilhon Gens d'Armes, Joseph Canteloube, and Martin Cayla were the group's main leaders.
A branch of the Auvergne and Massif Central League, the group represents all the departments and regions it serves through its costumes, music, songs, and dances. Whether bourgeois or rural, our performances showcase the richness and diversity of our territories.
La Bourrée de Paris is heavily involved in the Arts and Traditions network through its commitment to the national federation. For over 20 years, it has received the CIOFF label, a guarantee of quality and which allows us to be recommended by national and international bodies.
Through our dancers, musicians, and singers, we offer a show rich in diversity, representing the authenticity of each village in our region. From worldly ballroom dancing to the lively rhythms of the bourrée, our performance is a vibrant tribute to our culture.
Our costumes, a testament to our heritage, reflect the diversity of our departments. Accompanied by the accordion, the cabrette, and the hurdy-gurdy, our artists captivate the audience, while our choir perpetuates the use of the Occitan language.
Composed of young talents, from the age of 16, our group has participated in numerous French and international festivals, touring over 30 countries. From Tahiti to Japan, from Mexico to Sweden, we proudly carry the flag of our Province. It also appears in several films and numerous television shows. Most recently, it will be seen by millions of viewers at the opening of the PARIS 2024 Olympic Games.
With its enthusiastic youth and faithful to its roots, the Bourrée de Paris, soon to be a hundred years old, is more than ever ready to sing and dance for you its Native Country.
