The cultural association Petar Preradović has been active in Đurđevac since 1873. Đurđevac is a town located in the north-west section of the Republic of Croatia, near the River Drava, which gave this region the native name of Podravina. The association has 60 members including children’s and senior folklore group, a tamburitza group and two a female vocal ensemble Đurđevčice and ‘’ Katarene’’.The cultural association Petar Preradović gathers, through its activity, famous Croatian ethno-choreologists and choreographers, resulting in various dance, vocal and instrumental repertoire through which the original folk art of numerous different regions and cities of Croatia is nurtured ( Podravina, Zagorje, Međimurje, Slavonija, Baranja, Karlovačko pokuplje, Posavina, Split, the island of Korčula, Lika and Bunjevac Croats). A large uniqueness of Croatian folk dances is the traditional outfit. Due to the geographical position of Croatia it is one of the most picturesque and richest identities of Croatian folklore. The Society has released 3 sound recordings and 2 collections of folk songs. Kud Petar Preradović is a recipient of many awards from the City of Đurđevac, Koprivnica-Križevci County and the Croatian Cultural Council. He is the winner of the first, second and third prizes at the Folk Choreography Festival and the owner of the title of dance champion in the dance couple competition Drmeš DA! The female vocal ensemble Đurđevčice won the PORIN music award in 2023 for the best folk music album in the Republic of Croatia.
