For more than five decades, we have revalued the customs, legends, and traditions of our country.
Since our beginnings, we have been directed by Mónica Velasco.
Throughout our artistic career, it is worth highlighting the importance we have placed on researching and disseminating the cultural values of Quito, thus becoming one of the pioneering groups in the staging of legends, characters, traditions, and dances of the capital city.
Our mission is to strengthen Ecuadorian identity by demonstrating the pluricultural, multiethnic, and ancestral richness of our country through research, staging, and socialization of cultural works and projects in the field of the performing arts.
We have created choreographic frameworks for artists such as Nelson Maldonado, Trío Pambil, Mariachi Sol de Plata, Trío Colonial, among others. Those of us at Jegal have developed our own identity and methodology, becoming leaders in dance-theater in traditional Ecuadorian dance, developing research processes and creating artistic works that have transcended time.
INTERNATIONAL TOURS
As a cultural ambassador, we have raised the profile of Ecuador in countries such as Germany, Italy, Peru, Colombia, Argentina, and Venezuela. In 2021, we were part of the artistic ensemble that represented Ecuador at the VI World Folkloriada in Russia, considered the World Folklore Olympics.
