COSTA RICA

costa-rica

The Mi Linda Costa Rica Folkloric Ballet was founded in September 1973, under the leadership of its director, Leda Segura Rodríguez, who has been bringing Costa Rican folklore to the world for over 51 years. The ballet was formed to rescue the customs and traditions of a beautiful piece of land called Costa Rica, our beloved and respected country, with its rich cultural heritage, diverse dances and music, and exceptional natural flora and fauna. The ballet is named after a piece of land located in Central America, bathed on its shores by the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean. Despite its small size, it boasts a great cultural diversity and traditions that make us unique in our region. With its artistic and folkloric performance that blends music with dance, Mi Linda Costa Rica celebrates the traditions of the Costa Rican people. Its purpose is to rescue and interpret traditional folklore dance and music in a way appropriate for modern society as a genuine response to its deepest feelings.
My Beautiful Costa Rica has performed successfully representing our country in Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

The group's goal is to promote the folklore, customs, and traditions of our country to children, youth, and adults. This is because everything that is ours is gradually being lost, and the ideal is for future generations to know where their roots come from. In September of this year, we celebrated 52 years of promoting culture nationally and internationally.
The group is made up of directors knowledgeable about Costa Rican folklore, Maestro Leda Segura Rodríguez, and the group's General Director and founder, Maestro Luis Gmo. Díaz Villarreal, the Artistic Director, Luis Antonio Díaz Segura, Choreographer, producer, and General Coordinator of the Musical Section, and Alejandro Araya, Coordinator of the String Section, contribute their knowledge and skills to the group. These are important pillars within the group, helping to incorporate young talents in both dance and music. The group currently consists of 60 members, including dancers, musicians, management, and collaborators.
