Ensamble Cantaima

Ensamble Cantaima was founded on March 18, 2019. It is made up of eight young musicians from the city of Ibagué, Colombia.
As lovers of Colombian Andean music, we work to spread and preserve our rhythms and melodies. In 2018, we released the album El Legado del Juglar (The Juglar's Legacy), featuring 10 tracks by maestros such as Cantalicio Rojas, Leonardo Laverde, Jorge Velosa, and Carlos Alberto Rodríguez.
Ensamble Cantaima has won national competitions, such as the Bandola Festival in Sevilla-Valle in 2022, and has participated in the most important events in the department of Tolima, as well as in national and international festivals. We have also toured the United States (2015 and 2016), Chile, and Europe (Spain and London in 2023).
We have also created the audiovisual project Avíspese a Tocar (Get a Notice to Play), a series of five tutorials for preserving traditional rhythms, supported by the Tolima Departmental Culture Directorate and available on YouTube and Facebook.
