Academic folklore group France Marolt

AFS France Marolt has been working in the field of Slovenian folklore for more than 70 years. We perform dances and songs from the entire ethnic territory of Slovenia.

In more than seventy years of continuous work, the group has earned many recognitions and awards, the latest being in 2019, when they won two national folklore competitions. In October 2019 they won the title of best dance group in Slovenia and the women’s vocal ensemble Maroltovke won the title of the country’s best traditional music group.

AFS France Marolt regularly cooperates with central Slovene cultural, ethnological and ethnographic institutions: ZRC SAZU Music and Ethnographic Institute, Slovenian Ethnographic Museum, Public Slovenian Cultural Fund ... Together they work to set the criteria, examples and models for other groups in the country and are organising workshops, seminars and competitions.
