Central and North European Sector
CZECH REPUBLIC

The ensemble was founded as a school club in September 2002. It was founded by the current ensemble leader, Mgr. Ilona Mikešová. The ensemble currently has 35 members, from 15 to 100 years :-)
The live band consists of accordion, violin, vozembouch, clarinet, and double bass.
The ensemble meets once a week, with an hour-long rehearsal for younger members and an hour-long rehearsal for older members. All members enjoy going to various multi-day events, joint training camps, festivals and especially foreign tours, where they dance at international festivals and shows. Okřešánek has visited Hungary, Slovakia several times, Poland three times, Italy, Croatia, Macedonia, Slovakia, Ukraine.
He participates in the Sedmikvítek competition every year and regularly takes top places in both age categories. He is always evaluated positively by the jury. Okřešánek is a three-time holder of the Prime Minister's Traveling Cup for the winner of the republican final of the folklore dance competition.
Okřešánek performs thematic groups in public with names such as Crafts, On the Pasture, In the Pub, At the Stream, Shoemaker's, Hunting, Courtship, Cakes, Large Clothes, Masopust, Behind the Threshing Floor, At the Kolébky, etc. Sometimes it is just a group of folk dances. The leader of the group tries to cover the Horácko region, but sometimes he also includes other subjects, songs and dances from elsewhere for variety.
