CROATIA

CIOFF® Croatia is a voluntary, independent, and non-profit association of folklore festival organizers and other organizers of folklore events, folklore ensembles, cultural and artistic societies with folklore sections, as well as folklore groups and individuals. The association does not permit racial, gender, national, religious, or political discrimination, nor violations of human rights and freedoms.

Since its establishment in 1992, CIOFF® Croatia has been an active, full-fledged member of the international organization CIOFF®, founded in 1970 and headquartered in Paris. CIOFF® works to preserve, promote, and spread traditional culture worldwide and, as an accredited partner of UNESCO®, has a permanent representative on the Council for Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The main goal of CIOFF® Croatia is to preserve peace and foster good cooperation among nations through traditional culture.

Other goals include: encouraging, developing, and improving culture; preserving ethnographic heritage; nurturing the dance, music, and vocal expressions of folklore from all regions of the Republic of Croatia by participating in international festivals/meetings/folklore showcases; and presenting Croatian folklore heritage at international symposia and congresses related to intangible cultural heritage.
