ABOUT US
One of the 10 founding members of CIOFF® in 1970 was dr. Bruno Ravnikar, who in that time also founded CIOFF® Yugoslavia. When Yugoslavia collapsed in 1991, he founded CIOFF® Slovenia in the same year. CIOFF® Slovenia first belonged to the Southern European Sector of CIOFF®, then moved to Central and North European Sector, in that time Centraleuropean sector.
Of course, we try to help our member groups to tour to foreign festivals where they showcase Slovenian cultural heritage, always with live music, with the orchestra. We also help our festivals that need our help. Recently, we have also been organising seminars, such as singing seminars, seminars for folk musicians, and in the future, other topics that our members need in order to be able to function as well and as easily as possible.
We are proud that in March 2025 we very successfully organized the Council and Festivals Commission meeting in Ljubljana, where, in addition to work, we also organized a tour of some of the biggest tourist and nature attractions of Slovenia, its cuisine and wine culture, as well as a viewing of the conclusion of the Ski Jumping World Cup in Planica. We are glad that some of present decided to return to Slovenia.
