HUNGARY

Hungary was one of the founding member of CIOFF in 1970. From 1991 CIOFF Hungary was part of the Federation of the Hungarian Folklore Festivals. From 2024 CIOFF Hungary is the part of Hungarians' Heritage Foundation, founded in 1991. Its mission is to highlight the importance of folklore festivals in Hungary’s cultural life, represent traditional cultural values worldwide, and promote international cooperation.
The Federation supports high-quality festivals, encourages intercultural dialogue, and fosters the coexistence of tradition and modernity. As a founding member of CIOFF®, CIOFF® Hungary represents festival interests, organizes trainings and conferences, and works in line with UNESCO principles to safeguard and present intangible cultural heritage.
