SOUTH KOREA

CIOFF® KOREA (International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts, Korean Headquarters)
is a non-profit organization dedicated to international traditional cultural exchange, officially established as a
legal entity by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on April 18, 2001.
Korea became an official member of CIOFF® in 1980, with the establishment of the Korea Arts and Culture
Promotion Agency. Since the public-private partnership in 1993, Korea has sent traditional folk performance
troupes to participate in over 10 international folklore festival events each year, contributing to the promotion
of our folk culture on the international stage.
