Culture and tradition form the bedrock of human identity. They serve as a vibrant bridge connecting our shared past with the present, allowing unique stories, music, dances, and craftsmanship to endure through generations. In a rapidly changing world, tangible and intangible cultural heritage provides a profound sense of belonging, fosters continuity, and reminds us of the core values that unite humanity across geographical and cultural divides.
As an official partner of UNESCO accredited to the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, CIOFF® (International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts) plays a vital global role in preserving and promoting traditional culture.
Festivals organized under the auspices of CIOFF® transcend mere artistic performances. They serve as dynamic international platforms for intercultural dialogue, peace, mutual understanding, and respect. By bringing together artists, practitioners, and audiences from around the globe, CIOFF® showcases cultural diversity as humanity’s most precious asset.
July marked a period of extraordinary activity across the global folklore community. Throughout the month, CIOFF® member organizations worldwide hosted a vibrant tapestry of international festivals, bringing together thousands of performers, musicians, and tradition-bearers.
From open-air stages across Europe to vibrant cultural gatherings throughout the Americas, Asia, and the Pacific region, July saw a tremendous surge in cultural exchange. These festivals provided dynamic platforms for communities to share their living traditions, colorful costumes, and ancestral music, demonstrating the global vitality of our shared heritage.
CIOFF® festivals demonstrate that traditional culture is not a static museum piece, but a living, dynamic energy. The active engagement of youth in these events ensures that age old customs are transmitted naturally to future generations, keeping our global heritage vibrant, relevant, and inspiring.
