Celebrating Portugal's contribution to living heritage and intercultural dialogue.
CIOFF® International is pleased to announce four folklore festivals in Portugal… FESTIMAIORCA, RAIZES FOLK FEST, FAMAFOLK, and FOLK O MUNDO A DANÇAR, have received official certification from the CIOFF® Festival Commission.
This recognition highlights their commitment to quality festival organization, the preservation of traditional culture, and the promotion of cultural exchange through music, dance, and folk traditions. The certification also recognizes the dedication of the organizers, volunteers, and communities behind these festivals, whose work helps preserve traditional culture while promoting friendship, understanding, and peace through folklore.
CIOFF® International Congratulates the organizers of all four festivals and wishes them continued success in promoting cultural diversity and living heritage.
FestiMaiorca | Figueira da Foz
Since 1975, FestiMaiorca has welcomed folklore groups from around the world to Figueira da Foz. The festival has become an important cultural event, bringing people together through tradition, friendship, and international exchange.
Raízes Folk Fest | Cernache do Bonjardim, Sertã
Organized by the Bonjardim Folklore and Recreational Club, Raízes Folk Fest celebrates cultural roots and community spirit. The festival promotes the traditions of Portugal's interior regions while encouraging cultural exchange between participants from different countries. The next edition will take place from 9 to 16 August 2026.
Famafolk | Vila Nova de Famalicão
Brings together national and international folklore groups to celebrate traditional music, dance, and culture. The festival provides a platform for sharing traditions and strengthening intercultural dialogue.
Folk o mundo a dançar | Northern Portugal
Is an international folklore festival that celebrates the diversity of cultures from around the world. During nine days of performances, audiences enjoy authentic music, dance, and traditional costumes presented by groups from different countries. With an estimated audience of 80,000 spectators, the festival has become one of the region's leading cultural events and an important showcase for living heritage.
