Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage
We are pleased to announce that CIOFF® International will be officially represented at the upcoming 11th session of the General Assembly of the States Parties to the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
The event will take place at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, from Wednesday 17 to Thursday 18 June 2026.
Representing our organization at this prestigious gathering will be Jean Pascal Mariot, who will bring CIOFF’s voice, and long-standing commitment to the global dialogue on living heritage.
During this intensive two-day session, 185 States Parties will gather to debate and make crucial decisions that will shape the future of the 2003 Convention. As an accredited non-governmental organization, CIOFF® closely follows these developments to align our international festivals and cultural activities with global safeguarding strategies.
During the session, key agenda topics will include discussions on amendments regarding periodic reporting mechanisms, as well as the review and approval of the plan for the use of the resources of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Fund. Furthermore, participants will evaluate the role and accreditation of non-governmental organizations in implementing the Convention, with the proceedings culminating in the election of new members to the Intergovernmental Committee.
