HKUD Željezničar Osijek was founded back in 1925. Throughout its long history, we have always been a nurturer of the traditional culture of our local people.We cherish the traditions of our country through singing, playing traditional instruments, dancing and preserving national costumes. We have a rich fund of original folk costumes. Although we own folk costumes from almost all parts of the Republic of Croatia, the emphasis is on the traditional heritage of Slavonia and Baranja, from where we came. Croatia is a country divided into four regions: Pannonian, Alpine, Dinaric and coastal. These four spatial regions differ geographically, in flora and fauna, and in climate, and all of the above is reflected in the style of song, dance, and folk costumes of a particular region. The traditional dances of a certain area are determined by the characteristics of the area where they are danced (plain, stone, karst, hills, mountains). It is characteristic of Croatian folklore that dances are accompanied by simultaneous singing, which is also adapted to a certain area. Also, each region has certain instruments that are characteristic only for a certain region (diple, bagpipes, accordion, dulcimer, samica (a type of tamburitza) and others). However, most ensembles use a universal form of musical folklore accompaniment, the tamburitza orchestra.Our company holds traditional events and concerts, but also participates in many local, regional, national and international festivals. Some of the recent far destinations we have visited are recent Turkey (2022; Afyonkarahisar and Bursa), Hungary (2024., 2023., 2022.,...), Greece (2019), China (2017), Poland (2016), Belgium (2015), Portugal (2014), and many others.
