Folkmoot (folkmoot.org) is a nonprofit cultural organization based in Waynesville, North Carolina that fosters appreciation of world music, dance, and the arts. Folkmoot Center of Arts Founded in 1984, it began as a major international folk festival drawing performers and audiences from across the globe; today it has evolved into a year-round arts center offering concerts, workshops, artist studios, and community events. Folkmoot Center of Arts+2Blue Ridge Heritage Rooted in the Old English meaning of its name — “meeting of the people” — Folkmoot is dedicated to cultural exchange, education, inclusivity, and strengthening community through arts.
