The International Folklore Festival of Fribourg (RFI) is a regional cultural festival located in the bilingual city of Fribourg, Switzerland. It has taken place every year in mid-August since 1975. For more than 50 years, the festival showcases traditional dances of the world and invites each year 8 to 10 international dance ensembles over 7 days to showcase their traditional culture. The main goal of the RFI is to safeguard, promote and diffuse the intangible cultural heritage of the communities of the world. Well-established in the region, the RFI attracts yearly about 30'000 spectators and is the oldest and most popular event of Fribourg. It is run by a Committee of 20 dynamic volunteers which are supported during the festival by 300 volunteers.
