The International Folklore Festival in Strzegom
International Folklore Festival in Strzegom - A Celebration of Culture and Tradition in the Heart of Lower Silesia Content: The International Folklore Festival in Strzegom (Poland) is one of the most significant and vibrant cultural events in Lower Silesia, proudly holding CIOFF® accreditation for many years. The festival serves as a living testament to the commitment to safeguarding and promoting intangible cultural heritage, providing a platform for authentic presentations of dance and music traditions from around the world. The festival is organized by the Strzegom Cultural Center, which ensures a high artistic and organizational standard for the event, in line with CIOFF®'s mission and standards. Every year, typically in August, the historic town of Strzegom transforms into an international folklore capital, hosting groups from various continents. The festival program is rich with attractions that draw both local residents and tourists: Gala Concerts: Spectacular performances by ensembles on open-air stages and in concert halls. Street Parade: A colourful procession of participants in traditional costumes, showcasing the cultural richness of invited countries and Polish regions. Integration Meetings and Workshops: Opportunities for closer cultural encounters, learning traditional dances or songs. Regional Presentations: Performances by Polish folk groups, highlighting the diversity of native heritage. The International Folklore Festival in Strzegom is more than just an artistic review; it is primarily a meeting place for people of different cultures, promoting the ideas of friendship, mutual respect, and peace through the universal language of music and dance. The festival creates a unique atmosphere of joy and community, proving that tradition is a living element of the contemporary world. As a CIOFF® affiliated festival, Strzegom ensures the authenticity of the presented folklore and fulfills the organization's objectives, contributing to the global network of cultural exchange and the protection of humanity's heritage. We invite you to Strzegom to experience the extraordinary energy, colours, and sounds of the International Folklore Festival – an event that connects generations and nations in a celebration of shared heritage.
