The LATIUM WORLD FOLKLORIC FESTIVAL – Popular Music, Dance, and Street Arts from Around the World for a Culture of Peace – was created with the primary goal of creating opportunities for young people and people from around the world to meet.
Featuring approximately 300 young artists, the Festival offers an annual 15-day event spanning July and August, showcasing traditional folk dance and music from around the world. The festival takes place in the enchanting landscapes of Lazio, from Rome to Cori, from the Colosseum to the Temple of Hercules, through the Roman hills and the Lepini mountains, rich in tradition and art. It also includes the splendid Roman Cistern of Segni and the picturesque historic centers of Palestrina, Rocca Massima, and Paliano, all the way to the 16th-century Palazzo Caetani in Cisterna, the splendid Villa d'Este in Tivoli, the cities of Latina and Sabaudia, the seaside town of Gaeta with its magnificent Montagna Spaccata, the ancient Borgo di Fossanova, and the enchanting botanical garden of Ninfa, nestled within the ruins of a medieval city, with its walls, towers, churches, and ancient convents.
Colorful costumes, smiling faces, frenetic and engaging rhythms, spectacular choreography that intertwines between group dances and veritable acrobatics by soloists: these are the ingredients of the showcase of world folklore presented at the LATIUM WORLD FOLKLORIC FESTIVAL.
An international folklore festival hosted in several historic cities of Lazio: ROME, ANZIO, PALESTRINA, SEGNI, TIVOLI, PALIANO, LATINA, CISTERNA, GAETA, PRIVERNO, ROCCA MASSIMA, SABAUDIA, and CORI.
A fortnight of traditional music and dance, folk and ethnic music, international cuisine, typical crafts, and evening parties featuring countless young people who speak an intercultural language.
Friendly cultural exchange is one of the Festival's goals; Mutual understanding through diverse traditions bridges distances, enriches, and teaches respect and a vision of the world as a place rich in diverse peoples living in harmony. The Festival truly contributes to the process of integration between peoples.
The Festival is organized by the Municipality of Cori and the Pro Loco Cori, with the co-organization of the cultural association "TRES LUSORES" of Cori and the "LEONE RAMPANTE" flag-waving group of Cori, in collaboration with the cultural association "LATIUM" of Rome and the "Roffredo Caetani" Foundation of Sermoneta, as well as the municipalities and Pro Loco associations of Lazio participating in the project, in addition to the support of numerous volunteers.
