HKPD "BOSILJAK"

Folklore Ensemble Bosiljak was founded in 1896 in Čučerje and since then by its activities preserves and represent Croatian original cultural heritage connecting three centuries. Today “Bosiljak” counts 150 members of all ages working in four adults’ sections and four youth section. Bosiljak had numerous successful performances through Croatia and at many International Folk Festivals abroad; in Austria, Italy, France, Spain, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, Latvia, Portugal, the Netherlands, Hungary, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Macedonia etc. Ensemble work is based mostly on original traditional songs, music and dances of Čučerje and Zagreb as well as on those typical for other parts of Croatia. Particularly significant audience and experts recognition; “Bosiljak” got for the performance of “Čučerje’s wedding”, combination of wedding customs, dances and songs from Čučerje, prepared by teacher Drašković in 1930. Folklore section has on programme several dance choreographies, choir and tamburitza orchestra besides participating in folklore programme have also independent repertoire. All props, instruments and costumes (some of them are over hundred years old) are handmade originals according to the performed programme. Because of different reasons, traditional national treasure is slowly vanishing “Bosiljak” is very successful in cherishing and propagation of traditional national treasure to younger generations, in order to preserve it from disappearing and being forgotten.
