The town of Kamnik is intimately tied to its rich clothing heritage. The Folklore Festival "Dnevi narodnih noš in oblacilne dedišcine" (Days of national costumes and clothing heritage in Kamnik) has been a cherished tradition in Kamnik since 1966. The "Dnevi narodnih noš in oblacilne dedišcine" are highly anticipated in Kamnik, drawing traditional costumes from all corners of Slovenia. This event, which typically attracts over 30,000 visitors, offers a diverse program rich in cultural and entertainment experiences.
The second week of September in Kamnik is a time-honored celebration of one of the most prominent ethnological and touristic events in Slovenia, the "Dnevi narodnih noš in oblacilne dedišcine." The event, which unfolds in the heart of Kamnik, primarily focuses on clothing heritage and features performances by esteemed folklore groups, musicians, and vocalists, along with various other entertainers.
The culmination of this event, which has evolved into a renowned festival over the years, is the Sunday procession. Around two thousand participants, dressed in folk costumes, traditionally embark on a journey to showcase their heritage to visitors through the historic part of the town at 3:00 PM. Other highlights include performances on the main stage, a local and artisan craft fair, and various offerings along Kamnik's festive streets.
