According to UNESCO's Recommendation on the Safeguarding of traditional culture, CIOFF cultural activities: have their definition in CIOFF Charter on cultural policy; are concretely implemented through cultural programmes; have a scientific basis with national and international conferences on issues concerning traditional culture. To insure the application of its cultural policy, CIOFF has created a Cultural Commission with the Permanent Representative to UNESCO as member ex officio.
