Through its different activities and in collaboration with its members, CIOFF is implementing several cultural projects. According to its mandate, the Cultural Commission has selected certain of these projects to be submitted to UNESCO as Participation Programmes.
On an other hand, CIOFF is the executive body of certain programmes in partnership with other non governmental organizations.
Finally, every National Section is requested to collaborate with the National Commission of UNESCO of its country on programmes related to CIOFF field of competence.
With the assistance of the Permanent Representative to UNESCO, the Cultural Commission has submitted to UNESCO the following Participation Programmes:
- Reinforcement and extension of CIOFF network and closer co-operation with UNESCO;
- CIOFF builder of a culture of peace and non violence;
- Role of women in transmitting traditional culture: "women, source of knowledge";
- Africa and the transmission of traditional culture;
- Traditional culture education for childhood and youth;
- Creation of a CIOFF Africa network form Western and Central Africa (special programme);
- Transfer of african musical cultures to latin America and the Caribbeans: "the spirits on the slave route" (in collaboration with the International Music Council).
