CIOFF is now a grown up organization with a world wide recognition. Recognition among folklore organizations of course, but also among ministries of culture and international institutions. Supporting the implementation of festivals in countries where none are existing, CIOFF is doing a great job on a scientific level as well as for the promotion of our ideals for solidarity between peoples of the world.
To achieve all this, the collaboration of a great number of enthusiastic and volunteer persons is needed. CIOFF has been able of a fast and efficient development because of the energy brought by all this "on field" persons which have already faced many of the problems caused by organizing folklore festivals. To mention all this persons would be impossible.
Nevertheless, how couldn't we make a special tribute to the one who was, and always is, the founder of CIOFF? With remarquable generosity, enthusiasm and faith, with no rest, Henri Coursaget has always promoted "his CIOFF". Promotion among folklore insitutions and governmental bodies, in his own country as well as throughout the world. With his great capacity of conviction, every year he used to invite new observers ready to become members to share our ideals. All our gratitude must be expressed to all his collaborators who succeeded him in the Executive Council, as well as many others...
To Michel Kosinski, as a professional but also deeply involved with our ideals, who allowed CIOFF from the beginning to get the support of eastern european countries. To Maria Sampelayo, as main leader of spanish folklore but also through her relations with Latin America, who permited the extension of our network.
Our deepest sympathy to our friends for ever who unfortunately passed away: Eji Yamasaki, Orhan Tugsavul, Joseph Hendriks and particularly Philipp Conroy. As Treasurer and General Secretary during many years, with his shining personality Philipp has been a great promoter of CIOFF.
