A new structure

After a period of transition, CIOFF has to adapt its structures. A new name is adopted: CIOFF becomes the International Council of Organizations for Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts.

National Sections

As the number of festivals co-operating with CIOFF is increasing, it is decided that every country would be represented by only one person, under the name of "official delegate". However, the General Assembly remains open to representatives of festivals and federations as associated members or observers. Their expertise can be requested, but with no voting rights.

On an other hand, it is requested to create a National Section in every country. According to the organization of folklore in each country, this National Sections are the representative body of the festivals, take in charge the relations with the existing folklore federations, and nominate the delegates to the General Assembly and the Sectors meetings.

National Sections gathering a smaller number of persons in regional Sectors meetings do facilitate the tasks of the General Assembly.

CIOFF Sectors:

Central European Sector;
Northern European Sector;
Southern European Sector;
North American Sector;
Latin American and Caribbean Sector;
Asian Sector.
