The interest for folklore
During the second half of the 20th century, the conditions of life
from the cities to the most isolated villages are completely modified.
The consequence is the deterioration and even the disappearance of a
great number of ancient habits in many different fields.
The very legitimate reaction is, above all in Western Europe, the
increasing interest for everything that could remind «the good old days»:
research concerning ancient habits, «flea markets» with varied objects as
postcards, jewellery, pieces of furniture and different apparatus,
coming sometimes from a quite recent history.
In the field of our concern, from the 50’s a great interest appears for
preservation, reconstitution, or at least adaptation of ancient costums,
songs, dances, holidays, crafts and events that could disappear.
Folk groups (or so called) already existing are developped while others
are created, and do perform for an increasing audience.
