The foundation of CIOFF
The meeting takes place August 9 and 10 1970, during the 15th
international Festival of Confolens. All participants write down a "manifesto"
announcing the creation of the International Committee of Folklore
Festivals Organizers (first name of CIOFF) as well as its goals.
The manifesto: the goals of CIOFF
- Exchange informations concerning the performance and the human values of folk groups.
- Collect informations concerning the type of each festival and performance.
- Find the best conditions possible for lodging the groups invited.
- Mutual aid to organize tours to make profitable the travelling costs of groups coming from far away countries.
- Contribution, as much as possible, to brotherhood and better understanding between human beings through folk arts, and serve by the way the cause of peace and friendship between the peoples of the world.
